what did you upgrade? ubuntu? only simple scan? can you install the old version of simple scan and test if it still works? if it does, we can bisect to determine what change causes the trouble. if it does not work probably some dependency/library/configuration is the problem.

If I let it scan, nothing changes and only the grey background shows. It must have scanned correctly, however, as if I save as a JPEG, it works and the file looks okay. 2) However, if I save instead as a PDF, only a blank white document is saved.
