I have the same problem on xubuntu 13.04

Icon doesn't appear in notification area anymore

Bug description:
Binary package hint: liferea
When I launch liferea, its icon no longer appears in the notification
area. This means if I have it set to launch in the tray it doesn't
appear until I run it again, it advises me it's already running and
shows the window.
If I close the window, it keeps running in the background.
