Bug description:
When opening a new URL from an external application, such as via the
Gnome Terminal then the dialogue:
Firefox is already running, but not responding...
can pop up, even with Firefox is running fine and able to respond
instantly to input after the dialogue is dismissed:

When trying to contact the existing process Firefox should perhaps
retry the attempt if it doesn't get a response the first time.
