Title:
adding a new account almost always fails silently

Status in “evolution” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Adding the first account worked flawlessly, but since then evolution
will just walk me through the new account wizard, congratulate me that
I configured an account and that I should click "Apply" to activate
it, and if I click "Apply" close the wizard, forget all the account
  information and do nothing.

The only example was a gmail imap accoun which I managed to add at the
sixth or seventh try. I can't remember that I had done anything
different on that try than before.
