Update: issue not better in Raring's final release. Additionally, after I mounted a partition and click its icon in the Unity launchbar, it behaves the same as described earlier. Totem mediaplayer opens, instead of Nautilus filemanager.

The system then starts searching for installed codecs, if there's no video file in the folder I'm trying to explore. I found no relevant setting in dconf editor.
