Given that I filed this against Natty ;-) I can concur that it was fixed
somewhere between Natty and Raring (which I'm running now). More
probably before Precise, but in any case, resolved.

Title:
Dash being open prevents system from blanking screen

Status in Unity:

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: dash

Running Natty with updates as of 17 March.

When I have Dash open (or Applications for that matter) power
management is prevented from blanking the screen.

In my case, I'm running Natty/Unity on a Thinkpad x201 for testing
purposes. I open Dash or Applications and then go to my other machine
to work on other things. When I come back to my machine, Dash or
Applications is still open. When I close them, power management
immediately blanks the screen, causing me to have to enter my password
  to get back in.

Ultimately, things like Dash and Applications should not prevent power
  management from blanking the screen.
