Hi Murray, Thanks for all the feedback. I managed to configure my router to drop connections after 1 minute in order to try reproduce the issue however. I think we need to clear up exactly what your issue is. The raring version of Nautilus seems to handle things much nicer than previous versions there is no freezing and the error messages seem to be a little bit more refined.
Anyway the point is the issue has changed from the initial post. Can you please describe what your problem is? In my test once the timeout drops the connection and I try to navigate Nautilus I get an error message saying: "Opps something went wrong. Unhandled error message: Internal error: The underlying SSh process died" Is this the message you are getting? If so what is the solution you are after? Do you just want it to try auto reconnect? If you are getting a different message can you please describe exactly whats happening, and the solution you want so that I know what I'm working toward. The only way to get an sftp connection to that server again is to re login to my computer. The error message I get is Could not open location 'sftp://......' DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken Sometimes when this happens, my computer freezes for about 60 seconds. I have Ubuntu 9.04 64 bits - error happened on Hardy also - on a computer with an AMD64 processor.
