Here some more information:

(just for info: I went back to the orignal, open ubuntu drivers for the
Radeon HD 7450A card replacing the AMD proprietary driver.Allthough this
does not seem to have an effect on the bug)

1. Disabling PCI Devices:
I disabled the PCI-devices: Web Camand Wireless Ethernet:

echo 1 > /sys/bus/pci/device/$N/remove
... where $N is the slot you get listed with "lspci"

The system still hangs (disabling other PCI-devices too would probably exclude
further sources of bugs, but I am unsure
what else I could disable)

2. Disabling Input Devices
I disabled the Touch screen with:

xinput set-prop ID 'Device Enabled' 0
.... where ID is the device numer you get listed with "xinput list"

The system still hangs (disabling other input-devices too would probably
exclude further sources of bugs, but I am unsure
what else I could disable)

Title:
1002:6779 xorg hangs randomly with Radeon HD 7450A

Status in “xserver-xorg-video-ati” package in Ubuntu:
  New
Status in “xorg” package in Fedora:
  Unknown

Bug description:
  Bug:
Random freezes of xorg on freshly installed ubuntu 13.10.
There does not seem any pattern when this happens. Usually takes 10-20min.
There is no application running that requires special graphic ressources.
Requires hard reboot. Mouse and keyboard hang. <ctrl> + <alt> + F1 does not
work. Interesting is that this happens also with ubuntu 12.10, ubuntu 12.04.02
LTS and fedora 18.

  Hardware:
  HP Envy TouchSmart AiO PC
  - Intel Core i7 3770s
  - 8 GB DDR3-1600
  - Radeon HD 7450A
  - Hard drive: 1 TB SATA
  - exact technical spec:

  Further Info:
  1. I ran "sudo dpkg-reconfigure xservers-xorg" to reconfigure the Xserver but
this did not bring any change.
  2. This sound like Bug #1077616 but I have a Radeon and not a Nvidia card.
