suggests the problem was fixed anyway. If you still experience the
problem with a current version of Ubuntu (12.04, 12.10, or 13.04),

Title:
Memory usage increases a lot after (un)installing applications
Status in “software-center” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Binary package hint: software-center
Hello,
installing 4 or 5 packages at the same time with ubuntu software center
results in a heavy memory consumption by software center (about 450 MB).
I'm using ubuntu 10.04 LTS netbook remix on an Acer d250 netbook with 1 gb
RAM.
I've taken a screenshot of system monitor with the high memory
consumption by software center.
Bye
Sergio
