Relatedly, the AucTeX package doesn't accept emacs24 as satisfying its dependencies:

I can confirm this for 12.10. As a result opening .tex files in emacs 24 will not load auctex and the AucTeX menus (and other functionality) don't appear. The solution ( a one digit addition to the install script) is also mentioned in the askUbuntu thread. Apparently Debian has already fixed this: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi- bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=683032 I am using the following version of the auctex package: 11.86-2ubuntu2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/auctex/+bug/1149196/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
