I can reproduce this bug in Ubuntu 11.04, Nautilus 2.32.2.1, Classic Gnome (with effects), default theme.
Steps to reproduce. Open nautilus window. Right click on a file, select Rename... Click somewhere in the file folder name to edit. Press DEL key to remove the character next to the cursor location. Press enter. A dialog stating the file can not be renamed appears. The file/folder dissapears. File can be restored from trash, provided it has not been flushed. This is a serious bug that can produce loss of data.
