Official support for Ubuntu 8.04 "Hardy Heron" on the desktop ended on
May 12, 2011, and on the server on May 9, 2013. If this problem is still
occurring on Ubuntu 12.04 "Precise Pangolin" or later please press
Alt+F2 to open the “Run Command” screen then type the following command
to file a new bug so that we can get an up to date set of log files and
system info:

ubuntu-bug firefox

Bug description:
  In Ubuntu 8.04 alfa 6, with Firefox 3, the current problem in Firefox
  with Javascript isn't solved. Up to 100 % CPU usage when visiting a
  website with a news ticker based on javascript. Such as newspaper
  portal www.kranten.com

  Nasty problem, I hope it will be fixed before the final release of
  Hardy.
