This has started happening to me since I upgraded to raring. I have a suspicion that it's linked to the power status, as it seems to happen only when my laptop is not plugged into the mains, though I can't say with any certainty.

I have to switch to tty1 (or another tty) and run the following: sudo service lightdm restart Then I get taken to the lightdm login screen.
