Title:
  dvd+rw-format -force=full -ssa=default /dev/foo fails with DVD-RAM

Status in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: dvd+rw-tools

  using
  -Ubuntu 8.04.1
  -dvd+rw-tools-7.0-9ubuntu1
  -nec 4571 and pioneer 215bk drives
  -two verbatim dvd-ram 3x media

  I can not successfully format this media using dvd+rw-tools. The formatting
process starts without any warning. At random progress (from 16% to 95% in
about 7 runs) I hear the drive spinning louder, dvd+rw-format continues to
display some further progress (2-3 per thousands) and than aborts without any
error or warning.
  The media has no visible scratches, fingerprints etc.

  Using Windows XP and the Panasonic driver the media formats without
  any warning or problems and can be used afterwards.
