I am no longer able to add an app to the launcher by dragging and
dropping it from the Dash Home to the launcher panel. I used to be able
to do this until I made the following changes.
1. Using the nvidia settings manager, enable a second monitor using twinview.
2. Move the second monitor left of the main monitor and set the main (original
monitor) as the primary for that X session.
3. Apply settings.
4. Open the system settings app. Go to Displays.
5. Change the setting for the launcher placement to only be on the main display
instead of all displays. Note that the launcher is now on the left edge of the
right monitor, so crossing the middle of the desktop.
6. In Dash Home, search for an app. Drag and drop the launcher to the launcher
panel.
I expect this to lock the app to the launcher as it did before enabling
dual-monitors, but it instead adds it as an icon on the desktop
underneath the launcher. Since it is underneath the launcher, I cannot
delete it without opening the Desktop directory in Nautilus and deleting
it from there.
I have an nvidia graphics card and am using Unity 2d. This is Ubuntu
12.04. My system is up-to-date. I searched for this bug and did not find
it reported. I did not find the package name for the launcher so I am
reporting as Dash, but feel free to adjust the identified package if it
is incorrect.
