Mr. Penalver, Out of despair, I made a sudo apt-get remove --purge libreoffice* today before I could see your last message... and after reinstallation, it works, the problem has disappeared now! Previously, I had removed libreoffice through Software Centre and deleted the libreoffice stuff in the home path but mysteriously the problem had lingered. Luckily though now it's disappeared. I wish to thank you and also to apologize for all the time and effort you've been devoting to me.
