Title:
jockey freezes system with hundreds of jockey-gtk processes

Status in “jockey” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
Shortly after logging into a non-failsafe gnome desktop, the system
freezes (at first, it becomes sluggish, mouse pointer becomes jumpy,
then the whole system grinds to a halt). When the desktop starts up,
I can open a terminal window and noticed hundreds (or more) instances
of jockey-gtk. In a failsafe session, no jockey-backend runs, and
the system behaves normally. This behaviour started only after a
recent update was applied - before the update, it worked fine.
