Switching between proprietary and open source drivers takes a long
time

Bug description:
I often switch between nouveau and the proprietary nvidia driver
multiple times a day. It's frustrating to see it looking for drivers
and downloading them over and over again.
Can you do something more efficient with this? Maybe keep both mostly
installed except for swapping a symlink to the kernel driver around or
something?
