This is not entirely unexpected behaviour.  Unity was updated to use a
newer version of the x.org server containing a new barrier protocol
(used to detect mouse movement near the edge of the screen for
hide/unhide action).  The version of x.org installed from the Mir PPA
was older and did not support that protocol.

Everything should be in synch now.
