HDMI audio on AMD/ATI GPUs has been disabled by the upstream kernel
developers as it causes blank screens on a lot of systems.

You can re-enable HDMI audio by adding radeon.audio=1 to your GRUB
kernel boot options as described at
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Grub2/Troubleshooting#Editing_the_GRUB_2_Menu_During_Boot

There was also a second bug in the original Ubuntu 13.04 "Raring
Ringtail" release, which caused no HDMI audio. This was fixed in the
3.8.0-22.33 kernel update.

Title:
[System Product Name, ATI R6xx HDMI, Digital Out, HDMI] Pulseaudio
  fails to detect card

Status in “pulseaudio” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
After upgrading to 13.04 the sound output option to HDMI has
disappeared, it only shows me S/PDIF and Analog outputs.

I've seen people saying that after upgrading kernel to some newer
version everything is fine. I'll try to boot with the old kernel
(from 12.10) and see what happens.
