try hda-jack-sense-test to fond out whether there is no Jack detection
for the line out jack
it is strange that you have two non detectable output pin complexes
internal speaker and line out
especially line in Jack support Jack detection but line out Jack did not
usually speaker is automuted when you plugged headphone or line out
post the output of pactl list
you have to ask the author of the patch why the line out Jack get the
pcm playback volume control instead of front playback volume since there
are headphone playback volume and speaker playback volume

Title:
Ubuntu, any version, No sound on Mac Pro Tower Systems
Status in “alsa-driver” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
I tried all possible combinations of the sound settings and was only
ever able to get sound out of the back jack.
No sound since I installed Ubuntu (9.04) on any Mac Pro (tower
systems). Upgrading over the years, now 12.04, still do not make
sound.
I tried following sound debugging documentation on ubuntu.com but no
luck. I think there is just no support for these computers. Can
someone add support?
