How does the Ubuntu developer works ? Not in Terminal ?

I work in Terminal everyday, and it's a painful experience because of
this unreadable color scheme.

Until this gets fixed, here's a way to workaround it :

Title:
  default LS_COLORS are annoyingly unreadable

Status in “gnome-terminal” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  To reproduce:
  1) Open a terminal
  2) Cd to a directory where you have a lot of different kind of files
  3) type ls

The default colors are terrible. Most of the time you can't read most
of the entries in a directory listing. Some file names are shown with
electric blue text on a blueish green background.

Note that I am not daltonic.

Default colors don't need to be beautiful but they do have to be
  reasonably readable
