Hi again, After some investigation, I found that the compiz segfault was due to an undefined symbol:
compiz (core) - Debug: dlopen failed: /usr/lib/compiz/libunityshell.so: undefined symbol: XFixesSelectBarrierInput I downgraded libxfixes3 to 1:5.0-4ubuntu5.13.04.1 and was able to start Unity properly...
