I suspect we're focusing on the wrong project here...
This bug is assigned to XMir because we believe it will be
solved/avoided when XMir can use the hardware cursor (like it does
outside of Mir).
However it seems the root cause of the problem is a buggy X software
cursor. Not sure, but is that DDX-specific?

Bug description:
Cursor have black/striped/grey rectangular background in skype, wine and some
web apps, which changes look of cursor (for example - zoom loop with high
resolution photos in browser).
