Public bug reported: The gnome-panel in saucy does not start automatically after login into gnome-session-flashback resulting in a rather limited desktop experience. (I blamed the gnome flashback package instead of gnome-panel because it is possible to launch it manually in flashback mode.)
Steps to reproduce: - install sauce daily build from 11.9.13 - update system - install gnome-session-flashback - logout and login into gnome flashback -> no panel $ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu Saucy Salamander (development branch) Release: 13.10 $ apt-cache policy gnome-session-flashback gnome-session-flashback: Installed: 1:3.6.2-0ubuntu14 Candidate: 1:3.6.2-0ubuntu14 Version table: *** 1:3.6.2-0ubuntu14 0 500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ saucy/universe i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status $ apt-cache policy gnome-panel gnome-panel: Installed: 1:3.6.2-0ubuntu14 Candidate: 1:3.6.2-0ubuntu14 Version table: *** 1:3.6.2-0ubuntu14 0 500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ saucy/universe i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10 Package: gnome-session-flashback 1:3.6.2-0ubuntu14 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.11.0-7.13-generic 3.11.0 Uname: Linux 3.11.0-7-generic i686 ApportVersion: 2.12.1-0ubuntu3 Architecture: i386 Date: Thu Sep 12 12:38:56 2013 GsettingsChanges: InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-09-11 (0 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 13.10 "Saucy Salamander" - Alpha i386 (20130911) MarkForUpload: True PackageArchitecture: all SourcePackage: gnome-panel UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: gnome-panel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: i386 saucy -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-panel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1224423 Title: [saucy] gnome-panel does not start automatically on gnome-session- flashback login Status in “gnome-panel” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: The gnome-panel in saucy does not start automatically after login into gnome-session-flashback resulting in a rather limited desktop experience.
