I am facing the same problem. Plugging and unplugging doesn't work for me at the moment.

E398 LTE/UMTS/GSM Modem/Networkcard A virtual CD is mounted and the system offers to run a autorun program, is this case, the CD is mounted as "VIVO INTERNET", a brazilian carrier. After a few seconds the mobie broadband connection appears at network manager menu and its possible to connect to the network. Second scenario: The modem is pluged and recognized as: Bus 003 Device 002: ID 12d1:14fe Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. A virtual CD is mounted, but its umounted right after. The icon disapear a second later after appear. No option appears at network manager menu and its not possible create a connection. To fix this the modem must be removed and reconnected a few times until it start to work.
