My system is a Lenovo T410s laptop in a dock connected to an external 2560x1440 monitor. I booted up with the laptop closed (internal panel off), and the login screen came up on the external monitor correctly. I logged in and the desktop came up in 1280x960 mode (*NOT* my monitor's native resolution). I opened up the Displays control panel, switched the monitor to its native 2560x1440 resolution and clicked apply. The screen went blank and I was dumped back to the login screen -- X apparently crashed. The impact here is that XMir is unusable for me -- I'm definitely not running my monitor at a distorted 1280x960 mode when it should be doing 2560x1440! (And I guess I should mention that the normal X stack works perfectly for me) ProblemType: Crash DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10 Package: xserver-xorg-core 2:1.14.2.901-2ubuntu4 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.11.0-7.13-generic 3.11.0 Uname: Linux 3.11.0-7-generic x86_64 .tmp.unity.support.test.0: ApportVersion: 2.12.1-0ubuntu3 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: compiz CompositorUnredirectDriverBlacklist: '(nouveau|Intel).*Mesa 8.0' CompositorUnredirectFSW: true Date: Wed Sep 11 09:10:13 2013 DistUpgraded: 2013-07-05 12:20:34,996 DEBUG enabling apt cron job DistroCodename: saucy DistroVariant: ubuntu ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/Xorg ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0046] (rev 02) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Lenovo Device [17aa:21c1] InstallationDate: Installed on 2012-01-04 (615 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS "Precise Pangolin" - Alpha amd64 (20120104) MachineType: LENOVO 2901CTO MarkForUpload: True ProcCmdline: /usr/bin/X -core :0 -auth /var/run/lightdm/root/:0 -mir 0 -mirSocket /tmp/mir_socket -nolisten tcp ProcEnviron: ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.11.0-7-generic root=UUID=677292b2-a7ba-4d9e-8f1a-662c546b62ce ro intel_iommu=igfx_off splash quiet Signal: 6 SourcePackage: xorg-server StacktraceTop: main_arena () from /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6 MirSurface::get_current_buffer_package() () from /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libmirclient.so.2 mir_surface_get_current_buffer () from /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libmirclient.so.2 ??
