My computer is a desktop. I think that the problem lies somewhere in the
following lines:
----
00:1b.0 Audio device [0403]: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family High
Definition Audio Controller [8086:27d8] (rev 01)
Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. P5LD2-VM Mainboard (Realtek ALC 882 codec)
[1043:817f]
Codec: Analog Devices AD1986A
Address: 0
AFG Function Id: 0x1 (unsol 0)
Vendor Id: 0x11d41986
Subsystem Id: 0x1043818f
Revision Id: 0x100500
----
My desktop system uses the Asus P5L-MX mainboard
(http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5LMX/#specifications). The audio is
described as:
Azalia ADI1986A, 6 -Channel High-Definition Audio CODEC
Support Jack-Sensing, Enumeration, Multi-streaming
S/PDIF out on back I/O port
Jack-Sensing & Enumeration
The P5LD2-VM Mainboard
(http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5LD2VM_DH#specifications) is similar product
but it uses the following audio:
Realtek ALC 882, 8-ch High Definition Audio CODEC
S/PDIF out interface
Jack-Sensing & Enumeration
Multi-Streaming
Maybe the mainboard and codec mismatch is creating the problem?
I don't know if it worked on Ubuntu prior the 12.04. I've started to use
linux since 12.04 came out. I'm able to check with older version of
Ubuntu Live CD.
