You have been subscribed to a public bug:
1. Install monodevelop using apt-get
2. Launch it
Actual:
monodevelop crashes and shows the following error inside an error dialog:
System.TypeInitializationException: An exception was thrown by the type
initializer for MonoDevelop.Core.Gui.Services --->
System.InvalidOperationException: Extension node not found in path:
/MonoDevelop/Core/PlatformService

exception stack trace ---
at MonoDevelop.Ide.Gui.IdeApp.Initialize (IProgressMonitor monitor) [0x00000]
at MonoDevelop.Ide.Gui.IdeStartup.Run (System.String[] args) [0x00000]
Expected:
Monodevelop should start normally.
Note 1: I've talked to monodevelop developers on IRC and they suspect it's a
packaging bug.
Note 2: I've also tried to "sudo apt-get remove monodevelop", "sudo apt-get
purge monodevelop", deleting the ~/.config/MonoDevelop folder completely
followed by "sudo apt-get install monodevelop". I still see the exact same bug.
