But I can copy existing launchers from other Ubuntu partitions and they work, so clearly support for the launcher itself has not been dropped. It's just the GUI tool for creating the launcher that has been lost. But I guess if this is the way forward then we can only hope there is a developer out there that writes a separate application to replace this function. Maybe through nautilus-actions or something like that. In the mean-time, I'm going to try putting an empty .desktop file in the "Templates" folder, then hopefully I can still right-click and select a "Launcher" template, then right-click on it and edit it with the normal GUI.
