Install Ubuntu without choosing the "Download updates while installing" option. 2. Restart into Ubuntu. 3. Launch Ubuntu Software Center. 4. Navigate to any software item screen. 5. Scroll to the Details section. What you see: "Updates Unknown". What you should see: Correct update info.
