Title:
image viewer crashes ubuntu on viewing fullscreen jpg

Status in “eog” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
When selecting a jpg image and launching image viewer for a fullscreen
view, the image displays for a short while (a matter of seconds) and
then ubuntu crashes: the screen displays a rapidly scrolling series
of command lines and responses until the PC is forcibly (manually)
  closed down.
