I am a moron so forgive me, but I do not think this is necessarily a
duplicate. Bug 1235201 appears in part to be a matter of adding new
modes/configurations to get a usable desktop. This bug appears to more
accurately capture the new behavior I am seeing in Lubuntu 13.10: My
monitor settings were changed during the upgrade to 1280 x 1024.. The
new setting pushes the desktop leftwards off of the monitor screen.
Shifting back to 1280 x 760 recenters the desktop in the monitor
display, but I cannot get that setting to save, even running xrandr gui
launched using sudo from the command line. This is not a stored
configurations or missing configurations that have to be added issue,
this is the setting chosen in xrandr is not permanent between boots. As
I said, I am a moron, so forgive me if these are actually the same bug.

Incomplete
Bug description:
Monitor configuration in saucy beta Lubuntu is set to turn off built
in monitor and set external monitor to 1360 instead of default 1920
(squint, hard to read read 1920x1080 on a 15.5" monitor).
Save configuration. Reboot, saved configuration is ignored and boots
up with both monitors on, 1920x1080 instead of the configuration I
saved, built in monitor off, 1360x768.
I haven't had this problem with ubuntu saucy beta 1 can't test it with
the latest saucy beta because ubiquity won't run (separate launchpad
bug).
