Bug description:
  Description: Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS
  Release: 12.04
  Firefox 12.0

I use a proxy to Internet navigation.

  Step to reproduce bug:

  1. Configure proxy values in Ubuntu (Network sytem settings). Manual method
  2. Configure proxy in Firefox > Use system proxy settings
  3. Type URL > www.google.es > Web page works
  4. Type numeric URL > 173.194.41.223 (www.google.es) > loading........
Connection timeout!

  Notes.

Reading similiar bug #1194841 > Idea!!
  remove /usr/lib/firefox/components/libmozgnome.so

Then all is OK and numeric URL works

  Conclusion

In my view, a problem exist between Firefox and Gnome. Firefox doesn't
obtain correctly proxy values from gnome when a numeric URL is typed
