Title:
HDMI/DisplayPort is selected as sound output even when connected
  display has no sound capability

Status in “gnome-control-center” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
On upgrade to Ubuntu 13.10, I noticed my sound doesn't work by default
if my external display is plugged in. I have an HP EliteBook 7940m
connected via display port to an HP ZR2440w monitor which has no
speakers. When it is connected I have to go into sound settings and
re-select the laptop speakers to hear sound.
