I suffer from same bug. I use two layouts configured via XKB. I reverted to XKB due to bug in iBus/layout-indicator/smthng-else making layout switching unusable #1218322. Command-line to configure the layout is: $ setxkbmap -layout us,ru -option grp:caps_toggle,grp_led:scroll,compose:menu
