Weird. My wife has just started getting this issue (so far 2 times in
the last few weeks). The first time I restarted lightdm from a virtual
console and it worked again. The second time (suspecting CAPS LOCK) it
worked after 3 or 4 attempts (unfortunately the laptop doesn't indicate
when caps lock is on/off).

Not a critical issue, but I'll keep an eye on it.

Title:
Logging in at lightdm sometimes repeatedly fails --Precise upgrade

Status in “lightdm” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Logging in at lightdm sometimes repeatedly fails, no matter how
carefully I type. Having a look at the layout menu shows that I'm
using the layout I always do.

  Workaround:
  1) reboot, the easiest solution
  2) move into tty *, and doing something like sudo /etc/init.d/lightdm restart

  Comment:
I wonder if this counts as a security issue, seeing that it keeps the user
out of his/her own install.
