I thing too, that it is more important then "wishlist".
In Ubuntu with PULSE as primary - definitely.

Title:
  avconv do not support "-f pulse"

Status in the libav multimedia framework:
  New
Status in “libav” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:

  $ avconv -f pulse -i default test.wav
  avconv version 0.8.4-4:0.8.4-0ubuntu0.12.04.1, Copyright (c) 2000-2012 the
Libav developers
    built on Nov  6 2012 16:51:33 with gcc 4.6.3
  Unknown input format: 'pulse'
  $

  Pulseaudio is the default sound system in most used distro Ubuntu

  So - Pulseaudio should be supported.
  Pulseaudio lets me record from "monitor" source
  => PA support is necessary to grab desktop with sound without manual switch
of source in pulseaudio control panel.
