hi Michael,
as said, its a fresh installation from netinstall iso : so genuine ubuntu config
and i'm using that hardware since a while, and was working smoothly : so the
actual package/dependencies/settings are to be blamed.
Clearly a regression; maybe outside simple-scan. By now, im scanning/saving
from the builtin hp apps, then printing from the saved scan, and the result is
as expected: so its not a hardware issue.
** Changed in: simple-scan (Ubuntu)

Title:
simple-scan: io/hpmud/musb.c 2073: Invalid usb_open: Permission denied
Status in “simple-scan” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
Fresh Saucy i386 installation, with default packages installed.
When i use the all-in-one hp photosmart c4585 model, and use the menu
to load the scanning process, i first get a "no scan device found" for
a few seconds, then i can scan the document, and it seems doing well.
But syslog also show that error:
simple-scan: io/hpmud/musb.c 2073: Invalid usb_open: Permission denied
then when i want to print the result, i cant read the printed page as
the quality is so bad (far lower than a draft choice) even if i've
selected high quality inside the printer settings.
