The hostname is used to distinguish tokens from different hosts, and to
make it easy for the user to determine which token is which, if one
needs to be revoked from the web site. As part of this, the hostname is
used to look up the token in the local keyring. If you change the
hostname, the previous token cannot be found in the keyring, and thus
you will need to log in again.

Title:
Prompts to create new Ubuntu One account after changing hostname
Status in “ubuntu-sso-client” package in Ubuntu:
Won't Fix
Bug description:
Ubuntu 12.10, software-center 5.4.1.3
Steps to reproduce:
1. Login to the Ubuntu Software Center and enable Recommendations
2. Exit the Software Center
3. `sudo hostname newhostname`
4. Reopen the Software Center
Expected:
Everything should work as they did before.
Actual:
I am prompted to create a new Ubuntu One account. (I suspect the intention is
for me to re-authenticate my account, but then this is the wrong dialog for
that.)
