Title:
  Startupmanager: Error messages

Status in “gksu” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: startupmanager

On Ubuntu 10.04 (alpha) fully updated:

When running startupmanager from the command line (without sudo) I get the
error message

An error occurred while loading or saving configuration information
for startupmanager. Some of your configuration settings may not work
  properly.

and further, when clicking on Details

Failed to contact configuration server; some possible causes are that
you need to enable TCP/IP networking for ORBit, or you have stale NFS
locks due to a system crash. See http://projects.gnome.org/gconf/ for
information. (Details - 1: Failed to get connection to session: Did
not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application
did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the
reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was
  broken.)

With sudo there are no error messages.

I think these messages should appear for both a standard- and a
superuser. Besides this another wording could be more helpful.
