I would like to add my support for running 2 x screens at once.
I have searched many hours for a solution to this but always seem to come up
against too many technical hurdles or roadblocks.
If there is a possible fix for this which just requires a patch to
gnome-session, could someone please implement that.
This would make the many users I have encountered during my search for a
solution to this extremely happy.
Maybe we could finally have a distro which supports multiple X Screens, each
with its own set of panels, workspaces, etc.
Support for this seems to have been ignored for several years, since the days
of gnome2.

Title:
Launch two compiz processes if we have 2 X screens

Status in “gnome-session” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Recently, compiz dropped support for multiple X screens. I discussed
with Sam Spilsbury about it, his answer is pasted below.

  > There is no support for Multiple X screens in compiz, this was removed in
  > 0.9 and will not be added back because it adds further instability.
  >
  > The recommended configuration is to run one compiz instance per screen.
  > This should be done through a patch to gnome-session, or we can have a
wrapper script
  > which will launch one instance per screen.
