Hi,

This was a problem in your installation.  Possibly caused by ping not
having setuid rights or some iptables configuration blocking pings.
This should have been a support question instead of a bug.  Closing as
Invalid.

  ping command stopped working for a user after ubuntu LTS update

Status in “iputils” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  ping command stopped working after applying update to Xubuntu 10.04 LTS 
64-bit.
  $ ping pong.eunet.rs
  ping: icmp open socket: Operation not permitted

  Ping is working for another users and also fping command works but not ping 
for a user that installed updates.
  Additional request for tracing and machine info are welcome.
