This bug is still an issue for me and other users.
It is very annoying to need to use my wifes Windows PC for printing my
photographs :-(

Here is now more clear bug description to re-open the bug.

The bug really seems to be in the media/paper type-selection. I can only print
on plain paper. If I change media type to high resolution paper or photography
paper it does not print.

Attached is an error log of the following procedure
1. Start cups (reboot)
2. In GIMP, print image on A4, media type: high resolution paper, rear tray
--> no print
3. In GIMP, print image on a4, media type chagnged to plain paper, rear tray
--> a print comes successfully out

Please, look at this. I believe this affects all MG6200 serier printers
that are really for photographers. This is exactly the same user group
that benefits from the objectives of the gutenprint -project. High
quality prints are needed also in Linux.

Title:
Canon MG6250+Gutenprint v5.2.8 does not print

Status in “gutenprint” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
I have had problems with gutenprint + my older printer already earlier
and purchased a new Canon MG6250 for photo quality printing. I would
like to use color managed printing with linux+gutenprint but seems
  tough.

My printer is connected via ethernet (LAN). Connection ok. I have
Kubuntu 12.04 + cups + latest gutenprint v5.2.8. (Canon PIXMA
  MG6200-series).

When I print from any application I have tested (Libre Office, Gimp,
...) the display on the printer only says: "Processing. Please wait
momentarily" but nothing comes out. I CAN print a TEST PAGE from the
KDE system settings - printer configuration. Same result when I was
  connected via USB.

This seems to be a common problem. The advice in the web seems to be
to discard gutenprint and use the Canon supplied driver. My preferred
choice is to use gutenprint but this issue needs to resolved. This
cannot be a complicated bug. something goes wrong in communicated with
the printer. Please, have a look on this bug. This is a common printer
and known for good IQ with Windows.

  Best Regards,

  Mika
