I can't reproduce with the exact steps you describe, but I'm also affected by the save options being greyed out sometimes. So far it seems to be somewhat random so steps to reproduce are difficult to explain. This usually causes problems in my case:
1. Open a png image through the right-click menu on Nautilus 2. (It will probably succeed the first time) 3. Close Gimp 4. Re-open the png image through the right-click menu on Nautilus At this point I'm usually left with all the save options greyed out except for the "Overwrite image.png" option. I can also confirm that using the HUD allows me to access all the options that are greyed out in the menu. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gimp in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1246734 Title: [Gimp] Save/Export only works in HUD, not in file dialog Status in “gimp” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I cannot save or export files anymore in Gimp.
