Cerin, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
Unable to install Ubuntu when using an HDMI monitor

Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Although an installed Ubuntu system supports HDMI, the Ubuntu
installer does not appear to support HDMI at all, so any system with
only an HDMI monitor effectively cannot have Ubuntu manually installed
on it. Oddly, the boot menu shows up on an HDMI monitor, but selecting
any option (e.g. "Install Ubuntu") causes the screen to go completely
  black, after which nothing appears.

I encountered this problem on a Dell Inspiron 660s while attempting to
install Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. Strangely, the Mythbuntu installer works
  perfectly fine with HDMI...
