pikapika, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
  Xorg crash

Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Hi,

I rebooted this morning, and found that any login manager (lightdm or gdm)
can't log me to any wm.
I had a log telling that gnome-shell segfaulted (which i don't use) and after
removing gnome-shell and rebooting, i get "init: udev-fallback-graphics main
process (1477) terminated with status 1" which may be not relevant.
The only solution I found was using startx in console, which works fine.

I have contradictory informations in X logs :
  juil. 22 12:01 Xorg.1.log
"[ 60.052] Server terminated successfully (0). Closing log file."

  juil. 22 11:58 Xorg.2.log
"[ 1128.678] (EE) NVIDIA(GPU-0): EVO Push buffer channel allocation failed
  [ 1128.678] (EE) *** Aborting ***
[ 1128.678] (EE) NVIDIA(GPU-0): Failed to allocate EVO core DMA push buffer
  [ 1128.678] (EE) *** Aborting ***
  [ 1128.678] (EE) NVIDIA(0): Failing initialization of X screen 0
  [ 1128.681] (II) UnloadModule: "nvidia"
  [ 1128.681] (II) UnloadSubModule: "wfb"
  [ 1128.681] (II) UnloadSubModule: "fb"
[ 1128.681] (EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.
  [ 1128.681]
  Fatal server error:
  [ 1128.681] no screens found
  [ 1128.681] (EE)
Please consult the The X.Org Foundation support
         at http://wiki.x.org
   for help.
[ 1128.681] (EE) Please also check the log file at "/var/log/Xorg.2.log" for
additional information.
  [ 1128.681] (EE)
[ 1128.682] Server terminated with error (1). Closing log file.
  "
  which may be old

The only thing sure is that login managers don't work anymore for me, only
startx
  thanks
  raphael
