I've same issue on fresh install, the list of additional drivers is empty and 
screen is full of garbage.
I'm using nVidia GTX 580 on Z87 chipset motherboard, nothing is connected to 
intel card, only nvidia one is used. ubuntu-drivers log is attached.

Not sure that this is the right place to ask, but maybe someone knows if
there is workaround for this issue? Having troubles with ubuntu install
for 2 years now, primarily with screen lockup/garbage on it, even in
install stage.

Bug description:
  Since 12.10 i am unable to install the nvidia drivers via the gui, 
update-manager settings (Software Sources -> Additional Drivers) will not give 
me an option to install, just shows an empty list.
  jockey-text returns an empty list aswell

  jockey-kde on the other hand shows a list of 6 drivers with the same title.
