Nick Moffitt, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

I've followed a few vague bugs on the problem, but over the past weekend this has grown to every couple of hours. Easy ways to trigger it: changing workspaces too quickly while there is disk activity, or letting the screensaver go into power saving mode on the screen. The last one requires a hard reboot and I end up with the screen in a very dim state after the boot. Have a kern.log, if it helps.
