Hi,
After the latest automatic kernel upgrade to 3.8.0-31-generic my
Ubuntu 13.04 system again has graphics instability, especially when an
external monitor is connected to or disconnected from the laptop.
Sometime system text messages on a black screen will appear on the
monitor or laptop screen when the graphical output quits. This
problem happened with previous kernel upgrades this year and was
resolved when a new display manager file was installed in a subsequent
small auto upgrade. Reverting to 3.8.0-30 at start up now gets rid of
the problem.
The system is an ASUS K55A laptop with an i7 3630QM CPU having Intel
HD 4000 on-chip graphics.
I can help with some technical detective work to help solve this
problem, but due to a slow EDGE Inet connection kernel bisections are
not feasible.
